To obtain a free library card and to check out or download materials, patrons must visit either the Main Library or the Meadows or Reynolds branches and present picture identification and documentation of a current Colorado mailing address. Documentation may include:
- driver’s license;
- postmarked mail addressed to you;
- car registration in your name; or
- copy of a current lease.
Special accounts are available, including temporary, courtesy, teacher, children and senior accounts.
“Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to use the library as a source of lifetime learning,” said Library Director Tony Tallent. A recent study by the American Library Association also showed that families use libraries to spend time together. Forty-four percent of survey respondents report taking their children to the library for this reason.
“If you’d like to have access to the best books, materials and resources in your city, it’s simple enough — get a library card today,” said Tallent. “There’s something for everyone at the public library — free music, DVDs, art exhibits, books galore, Internet access and a helpful staff ready to welcome you.”
A library card is valuable and should be treated as a credit card. Library cardholders are responsible for the materials checked out on their card. For more information on how to sign up for a free library card, go to http://www.boulderlibrary.org/card/.

Today I found a list of business books recommended by Seth Godin: http://www.squidoo.com/book-roundup
Instead of clicking the “buy now” button next to the titles that interested me, I logged on to the BPL Web site and requested holds for pickup. What a great thing! Thanks for being my proverbial wingman in business.
