Tribute to Dr. Seuss children’s program at library Saturday

Enjoy a tribute to Dr. Seuss, “Oh, the Magical Places to Go!,” with a journey around the world in search of Inspector Magic’s vacationing bunny, on Saturday, March 14, at the Reynolds and Meadows Boulder Public Library branches.  Children will learn geographical information about the seven continents and discover the diversity of the planet with a focus on tolerance of others through examples from Dr. Seuss books, with magic, juggling and music.  Program is for children ages 3–12.  Reservations are required; please call the library branch you plan to attend.  Programs start at 11 a.m. at Reynolds Branch, 3595 Table Mesa Dr., 303-441-3120, or 3 p.m. at Meadows Branch, 4800 Baseline Rd., 303-441-4390.

 

Eleanor Roosevelt program: “This is my story”

Through a series of vignettes performed by scholar and presenter Susan Marie Frontczak, catch alternating glimpses into Eleanor Roosevelt’s public and private personae, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, at the Meadows Branch Library, 4800 Baseline Road.  Hear Eleanor Roosevelt’s views on how each of us can make a difference in a strife-filled world – views as relevant today as they were 70 years ago.  This free presentation is for ages 12 and up and is co-sponsored by Colorado Humanities.  Reservations required; call 303-441-4390.

 

Third Tuesday Lunchtime Concert Series

Sesquicentennial Lecture Series: “Mining: Boulder’s Underground History”

Join Dan Martin and Tom Hendricks for a talk entitled, “Mining: Boulder’s Underground History,”  at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, in the Canyon Theater at the Main Boulder Public Library, 1000 Canyon Blvd.  The hard rock mining of Boulder County has been through a series of booms and busts, starting with the gold rush that was the reason for the town’s founding, through the great 1870s silver rush and up to the present.  This lecture is co-sponsored by the Boulder History Museum.  Information:  Carol Heepke, heepkec@boulderlibrary.org.
